8:30-11 am (BST)

The Comedy Store, 1a Oxendon Street London SW1Y 4EE

We’re often being told that our training was ‘much more fun than I thought it was going to be’.

Why?

First, because lots of corporate training is dull.

Second, because we try hard to make it that way. In fact, there’s a lot of behavioural science behind why the same techniques work in comedy and training.

And that matters, because if you enjoy something, what you learn’s more likely to stick. Fact.

If you’re in HR, talent dev, L&D, or you’re the person who makes great training happen at your organisation, join us for breakfast and we’ll share a boatload of those tricks, and the psychology behind them.

With two expert Neils

Neil Taylor headshot square

Neil Taylor, Director or Training

Neil spends his life running workshops on communication – all over the world. His mum once said, ‘Your job is just showing off really, isn’t it?’

He’s the author of Brilliant Business Writing, and has helped everyone from Cabinet ministers and CEOs to call centre workers express themselves better in writing, presentations and stories. (Oh, and his tombstone will say: he named Ocado.)

Neil Mullarkey headshot square

Neil Mullarkey, Comedy and improv guru

(Yes, Mullarkey is his real name). You might recognise him from ‘Whose Line Is it Anyway’ and two ‘Austin Powers’ movies. He still performs most weeks with the Comedy Store Players, Europe’s top improv troupe, which he co-founded with Mike Myers, and who feature in the Guinness Book of Records for their longevity.

He’s travelled to 25 countries sharing the skills of comedy and theatre, focusing on creativity, collaboration and communication. His latest book, ‘In The Moment’ was shortlisted for the 2024 Business Book Awards.

They’ll be talking about things with pretentious names like the ‘generation effect’, ‘callback’, the ‘surprise effect’, the ‘door in the face’ – and how they’ll make your organisation’s training better, whatever format your deliver it in.
