Senior Designer

London (hybrid)
£45,000-50,000

Team: Brand strategy
Experience level: Senior
Type: Fixed-term

We’re looking for a Senior Designer (Maternity cover FTC 1 year) who can hit the ground running.

Someone who’s comfortable owning projects from day one, building strong client relationships and making good creative decisions without needing everything mapped out for them.

Some projects will have clear briefs. Others won’t. You’ll need to be comfortable working things out, asking the right questions and finding a way forward.

It’s a busy agency, so you’ll often be juggling multiple projects with tight deadlines. We’re after someone who enjoys that pace and takes real pride in producing beautifully crafted work.

Our clients include TfL, House of Commons, NWS and FSC, with work spanning brand identity, campaigns, corporate communications, sustainability, digital and everything in between. We work on ambitious, often complex briefs that require strategic thinking and exceptional creative execution.

We’ve grown quickly, continue to win exciting work and need someone who can help us maintain the quality and craft our clients expect.

What you'll actually be doing

  • Leading design projects from brief through to final delivery.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients
  • Taking ownership of complex, often ambiguous briefs and shaping them into clear creative solutions.
  • Designing reports, publications, brand guidelines, presentations and high-quality corporate communications.
  • Creating visual systems that make information clear, engaging and beautifully crafted.
  • Presenting work confidently, defending your thinking and guiding clients through creative decisions.
  • Working with autonomy, making informed creative decisions and knowing when to challenge a brief.

What we're looking for

You’re not just a safe pair of hands. You’re someone people naturally trust with important work.

Your craft is exceptional. Typography, layout, hierarchy and detail matter to you because you know they’re what separate good work from great work.

Most importantly, you take ownership. Projects don’t need chasing because you’re already ahead of them.

What we’re looking for on paper

  • Significant experience delivering high-quality design within a creative or branding agency.
  • Excellent Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop skills.
  • Experience designing long-form reports and publications.
  • Outstanding typography, layout and editorial design skills.
  • Experience creating brand guidelines, brochures, presentations and complex corporate communications.
  • Strong understanding of visual identity systems and applying brands consistently across multiple touchpoints.
  • Confidence presenting work directly to stakeholders.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional craft and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience of accessibility or public sector communications would be advantageous but isn’t essential.

The right person for this role

Owns the work. They don’t wait to be told what to do. They bring clarity to complexity, calm to chaos and consistently produce design that clients remember.

They’re the person everyone wants on the difficult projects because they make the impossible feel straightforward.

What we’re offering

  • 22 days holiday + your birthday + 3 days between Christmas and New Year – 26 in total. An extra day after 3, 6, 9, 12 years of service
  • 5% employer pension contribution. Employee contributions by salary sacrifice
  • £100 a month to spend on wellbeing
  • £100 a year to spend on books or courses that you need to help with your job
  • Salary sacrifice schemes: cycle to work, electric car scheme
  • Annual season ticket loan
  • £1,234 bonus for referring a new employee with at least 2 years’ experience
  • 1 eye test a year paid for by the company
  • £40 on your birthday to spend on anything you like
  • Death in Service: 3x salary paid out to named dependants while employed by Definition
